went to pulau ubin yesterday with my classmates... LOL it was one of the best times i have ever had with my class mates... lol, realised that i was a rather weak person especially when it comes to cycling...LOL, Bridgette in our class OWNED us on the up slope... LOL... she is super strong... i also witnessed how crazy some girls in our class can be... it was rather freaky... LOL... its my first time to pulau ubin... i have never been there before... i left my home at 7.30am, which is one and a half hours before the meeting time... i boarded the bus 21 at 7.35am... and guess what... the bus ride for bus number 2 took from 7.50, to 9.30... and i was late... man... my ass was numb from the bus ride, thank God i had my MP3, if not, i will rot in the bus... well... at least the bus did pass by some very interesting place like the Japanese school(oh yea...) and the Changi Air Base... RSAF... WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. at the entrance, there is an F16 tail fin (i think so...) lol... man... i was so hyped up...(no as excited when i passed by the japanese school)lol... well it was raining on that day... as alighted from the bus at changi village, i saw lq... LOL, his face really made my day... bloody gay smile... then we went to meet the rest of the class at the hawker centre... GUESS WHAT? we saw RSAF PILOTS, oh man... dudes with the GOLD WING... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... i was so excited to see such people man... WOW, n words could express how excited i was... man, those people really have what i call the "pilot look" lol, well... i have to study very very hard in order to be like them... man i really wish i could be like them... then we headed for changi pier where we took a boat ride to pulau ubin... i was hoping that the ride was a little faster... but it was ok... took about 5 minutes to reach there... i must say that the scenery was kinda eerie, especially with the morning fog and rain... as i stepped foot on pulau unbin, it was in a better condition than i thought it was, in fact, it looked very new, like a resort island. but as we walked into the alley to get our bikes, i felt like i was back in the Philippines, cebu, lol, i had the "back to the past" feeling... lol, i really like the place there, an escape from the urban life as lq said. felt like there is nothing to worry about... we rode up slope and down slope... and that was one of the steepest slope that i have came across, it was like a 60 degree down slope, and you do not have to peddle for the next 5 minutes, you just continue... lol, i nearly had an accident when coming down one of the slopes... my bike lifted off the slope as i rode over a rock... for a brief split second... my heart stopped... BUT, it was freaking exciting! LOL, man... to feel the wind against your face, to breath in fresh air, to see nothing but greenery every where... it was very exciting... ![]() we also went to many places, including a very nice so called "apartment" facing the sea, up a bird watching tower i think, and also "trail" along the mangroves; where we saw fishes jumping out from the water and crabs in the mangroves... most of the time we were feeding the mosquitoes... we also climbed the highest point in pulau ubin... 60m... nothing compared to Mt Onesema which was like what? 1200m or more? i had a phobia of climbing moutians after that incident... where i screwed both my ankles while climbing down the moutian... i can remember one incident... i had my feet secured in between 2 rocks... as i move down... my body slipped down... but not my feet... LOL... i felt a loose "click" at my ankle... WOW...LOL initially, i did not want to climb the so called "hill" at pulau ubin, but did so in the end, always looking out for a proper place to place my feet... LOL... the scenery was... ok... not like what i saw on the top of Mt Onesema... it was breath taking... well, i really enjoyed myself that day though... with the company of my classmates... even though pulau ubin have a vast ecosystem and a huge variety of wildlife, i cannot help but not appreciate these, in my mind on that day, i was constantly thinking of the people whom are living in the island itself... yes it is important to conserve the environment, to protect it, but i cannot help but imagine how is it like in the past... at the bike shope where we rented our bikes, there was a few very old newspaper cuttings of reports in pulau ubin... it used to be an island filled ith thousands of people... until today, i bet there is less than 200. can you imagine a place where people will almost know each other? imagine all the island's children will be going to the same school, were times will be spent at the beach, where people are so happy together... i believe time do stop at such places as you are there to apprecitae the nature of things... ![]() i believe nature is a place where humans and nature are in harmony... it a pity that such a community should in the very near future just vanish from singapore... i believe what makes pulau ubin to special is the people that are living on it... i really wonder, is nature more important than the people there? the self sufficient community in the past have since become a so called "tourist attraction" seeling drinks, ferrying people from singapore to here... is there more to just these for this people in pulau ubin? it is really a shame... that is why i do not appreciate the nature on that day... time really shows how a person is like... views are thus changed, perspectives too... i am selected to be an OGL(orentiation group leader) for next year's JC1 orientation. i do not know if i should be happy or not, i am just very concerned about my studies... besides, there are many things that are borthering me now... lets just hope that tomorrow will be a better day. well... rock on guys... |
